A big reason that people are uncomfortable with change (even positive change) is because it is unknown and therefore makes us feel insecure. If there is something you are always wishing for (having more friends, a relationship, a better job, to be more physically fit...) and it has not manifested in your life then it is very likely you have some fear or uncertainty about the change, and that is what we will examine this week. Obviously it could be other things that are holding you back (real lack of interest, not understanding your needs, beliefs and so on...)
This insecurity can prevent you from manifesting your goal but even if something amazing did present itself it is likely that you will screw it up because you have not taken time to create a good foundation.
Abraham Maslow published "A Theory of Human Motivation" in 1943 and his theory states that basic needs must be satisfied before we can progress to our highest achievements. Therefore if you do not feel safe (secure) then it will be hard to move forward. In this week’s challenge ask yourself the following questions.
The Challenge:
1) Who would I have to be to live my perfect life? Most coaches will ask you this question at some point because it's important for you to understand who you are before you step into change. Like building a home you need a good foundation and while this may take more time you will build confidence along the way. Take baby steps and build on your successes. You can also refer back to past blog posts or hire a life coach. For example, if you feel unhealthy you may realize you would have to be a person that values good health and therefore you may start to eat healthier and enjoy some more movement in your day. From here your next step may be finding new friends or a better job.
2) What do I want most as an outcome from my success? Why do you want new friends or a new job? If it's just because you are lonely or want more money first dig deeper because you have not created enough clarity. Otherwise you may find you have new friends or a new job and still aren't happy.
3) How can you learn from past failures? Failures usually make us feel insecure but in fact these are our teachers. Look back and consider how to move forward more efficiently. Most importantly look for trends with past failures. Maybe there is some self-sabotage going on. For example; if you feel like you don't get the respect you deserve in a relationship or at work could it be that you are presenting yourself in a way to attract that?
What I'm working on:
Now that the book is done and I am moving into the promotion phase I realize a big shift is coming in my life. One where most of my work required me to be in my office to now having to be out in front of people doing talks, presentations, book signings, etc. Before stepping out I must prepare. What do I want to say and do? Personally I don't want to do a lot of book signings at book stores so I am coming up with other creative opportunities.
Have a great week and remember to share this blog with your friends, family and co-workers.

Week 34 - Beauty
It can be easy to focus on beauty in the springtime when flowers are blooming and the days are long. There is the promise of hope when everything feels fresh and new. However you can almost always find beauty and when you do it can lift your spirits. I know winter has been challenging with all the snow and ice so lets lift those spirits!
The Challenge:
It can be easy to focus on struggle because it has a way of grabbing your attention. In my yoga classes when my students are in a challenging pose I first make sure everyone is in a safe posture and then ask them to shift their focus to an area of the body that feels completely at ease. The shift in focus can help you notice what's pleasant.
Ask yourself "What do I want to attract?" If you focus on the negative, the struggle, the ugly, the work... then that is what you are attracting. Today; and all week I want you to seek out beauty. For example; instead of looking at the tons of snow outside maybe you will find a single beautiful snow flake on the window. Or maybe instead of focusing on the abundance of darkness you can celebrate the light when it arrives. If you are unable to do things you love take time to not only remember past experiences but makes some plans for the future.
What I'm working on:
Since I now live in FL I have been fortunate to enjoy mild weather but I have been hibernating in a way because of my work load. Yes I get out to exercise or go to a yoga class in the mornings but that has even been feeling like a 'to-do'. With my book release date moving up two months and other opportunities and challenges that I am dealing with I have almost no free time. I don't mind because what is keeping me busy are my goals and I am thrilled they are manifesting.
What I have been acutely aware of recently is the beauty I see in the eyes of others. It really makes me stop as for a brief moment I notice their inner beauty. Some eyes sparkle and when they do I quietly rejoice in their moment of peace, happiness, or success. And whenever possible I will acknowledge someone for a beautiful quality that I see in them. When I do I notice their spirits lift and that is also beautiful.

Week One Challenge
Hello and welcome.
Overview:
Our start date is just two days away so I doing the posting now. As I mentioned each week I will share an idea, or objective you can work on with me. We will call it our challenge because I don't know about you but I'm always up for a fun, new challenge. I don't think of a challenge as hard; just exciting. It helps me to show up and step up.
Over the next 52 weeks we must each follow our own path but I hope you will find that having like-minded individuals working together towards their success and wellness with you will make a profound difference. The journey is meant to be fun and uplifting. You are invited to share this challenge with people you think may be interested. Please make sure to sign up today so you can post your results. Sharing your successes and failures allows you help others. And the act of writing helps you to gain insight.
Each week I will post a challenge we can all work on. If there is something you would prefer to do it then again just share your ideas and outcomes. I would love to hear from you.
Week One Challenge:
Write down your goal(s) that you want to accomplish by next year at this time. Just by writing your goal down increases the likelihood that you will succeed. Recently I was cleaning out some folders and found a list I made years ago; long before I even knew anything about life coaching. Can you believe everything on that list I not only accomplished but exceeded? There were things on the list I didn't even remember wanting that long ago. I wanted a home on a lake or a beach -- got it. I wanted to earn a certain amount of money -- almost doubled it. Go ahead and write down your goals. That may seem like a simple challenge for the week and that's good. Baby steps will get us there. In future weeks we will talk about good goal wording, vision statements and so on; so you may rewrite your goals later which is fine.
What I'm working on:
I have three goals for this year. The first is that my husband and I want to sell both of our condos and move into our new dream home. The second is to complete the editing for the Yen Path: Awaken Your Heart's Desire manuscript (which is complete) and move into the publishing/promotion phase. As I thought about my goals this morning on the elliptical at the gym I realized both will take a lot of focus. This helped me to realize I need a third goal which is to engage in activities that will keep me feeling grounded and healthy . Too much change can leave us feeling unraveled so you may want to consider adding this goal as well. For me self care (good nutrition, gentle exercise, yoga, massage, facials and quiet) plus fun times with family and friends should create a good balance for me.
Obstacles:
Over the next 52 weeks obstacles will come up. Sometimes you must stop to tend to these things and sometimes you must identify them as a distraction and stay focused. If you feel unsure ask people you trust for their support.
Opportunities:
Now we begin on our journey. Yen Path will lead you to amazing opportunties if you just let it. This is your path but is also mine. One I have spent a lifetime developing. I believe you will benefit from my approach; my method. Let's get started!
All the best and Live Well. Jenny
